About a month ago I was involved in beta testing an email list building service called ListCrew. I had a lot of fun (yes, I am a huge nerd) and definitely found this service offered by Troy McDonald to be effective.

Here’s my original thread: http://im-fun.com/email-lists/beta-testing-a-new-list-building-service/97/

Well in about 6 days the service will be LIVE for the public. As far as I know the basic membership will be FREE with additional credits available for purchase.

And because I was involved in the testing, I am able to offer a special deal for anyone that signs up through me…2,250 starting credits for FREE! What this means is that 2,250 people will be presented with the opportunity to sign up for your mailing list. Not too shabby at all!

So if you’re interested, click below to watch an intro video and sign up for the announcement list…

The more I learn about this new service being developed by StumbleUpon, the more psyched I get.

If you haven’t heard of StumbleUpon, they are one of many social bookmarking websites, but they are unique in the fact that they offer users the ability to just browse or “stumble” through a never-ending list of sites recommended by other users. Pretty cool idea.

I read about their new product, called SU.PR (pronounced “super”), from the blog of Tim Ferriss (the author of “The 4-Hour Workweek”).

Well apparently SU.PR will allow users to do the following:

Submit their content to StumbleUpon’s 7.9 million users with each post

Have their best content showcased in a right-hand sidebar for each page that’s linked to (here’s an example)

Get suggestions for optimal posting times: get more traffic per post

Schedule as many tweets or posts as they want, for any time

See their click-through statistics in real-time

See retweets for each post, including the biggest influencers (with rankings)

Post to Twitter and Facebook at the same time, with more platforms to come…

Use their own short URL (i.e. www.mysite.com/abc123) instead of something like bit.ly

Dang, that sounds pretty bad-ass. Apparently Tim said while testing SU.PR he started receiving up to 10% of his unique traffic from it, and got 24,000 visits to a single post in 24 hours. Holy smokes!

Here’s a sample of the SU.PR dashboard:

Well if you’re excited and want to get in on the action ASAP, they’re giving out free beta testing accounts for the next few weeks. Here’s how to get one:

Go here http://su.pr/

Click “request one” if you don’t have an “invite code”

Follow StumbleUpon on Twitter to get the code when they periodically release new ones

On WarriorForum, I recently saw this dude named Troy requesting beta testers for his new email list building service. Right now he’s only looking for people who are running Internet Marketing sites, so I decided to sign up with this blog.

I don’t get a whole lot of traffic but I love testing the hell out of stuff…haha…that’s sad eh?

http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-joint-ventures/88396-i-will-build-your-internet-marketing-list-beta-test.html

The service seems pretty sweet so far! I would like to show you some screenshots of the interface, but Troy probably wouldn’t appreciate that very much. I can’t go giving away all his trade secrets

Basically, the idea goes like this:

You first install an email autoresponder / subscriber manager app (there’s free ones available too) on your site

You register with ListCrew

You enter details about your website and select a category for it

You modify your site’s HTML to include a little script that ListCrew provides

You setup a “Newsletter Ad” – a simple title and short description of your newsletter

Your Newsletter Ad appears when visitors go to other community websites, and visa versa – it’s just a small window that appears and allows users to subscribe; not very intrusive

You sit back, relax, drink some beers, and watch as your list grows

If this sounds like good times, and you want in, just read the instructions in the above thread.

Edit – apparently Troy has enough beta testers now, so you’ll have to wait until the ListCrew public release!
